In keeping with a tradition of honoring outstanding fall athletic teams of the past, Gallatin High School will recognize the 2006 Lady Bulldog softball team during half time of the Sept. 30 Homecoming football game against Princeton.
Coached by Jeremy Hobbs and Denise Ray, the 2006 GHS softball team finished 15-3 overall during a wet fall season that saw seven games cancelled due to rain. The Lady Bulldogs finished 7-1 and co-champions of the Grand River Conference (with Hamilton), won a Class 1, District 13 title and advanced to the state quarterfinal round, where they lost to Jefferson, 3-2.
Members of the 2006 softball team were: Freshmen — Carly Boyd, Savannah Butcher, Jennifer Acree, Ashley Owens, Shelby Chadwick and Kirsten Richards; Sophomores — Courtney Ray, Kaddie Mott, Nicole Everman, Maggie Strange and Wren Tolen; Juniors — Kirsten Bowe, Tarah Gutzmer and Lacey Dixon; Seniors — Ayrica Batson, Alyssa Strein, Samantha Mott, Dennelle Rhoades, Jennifer Guffey and Melissa Everman.
