On Sept. 1, Sheriff Ben Becerra and Deputy Larry Todd Watson went to a Gallatin residence to talk to John Moreno. Moreno, 29, is registered as a sex offender in DeKalb County at a Weatherby address. Moreno had moved to Gallatin and was residing at 802 South Willow. Moreno had not yet registered in Daviess County.

According to the probable cause statement, Moreno advised that he had only lived at 802 South Willow for two days, and that he had three days to register. He said he planned to notify DeKalb County of the move and register his new address with the Daviess County Sheriff on Sept. 2.

During the investigation, Deputy Watson learned that Moreno had been living at the Gallatin address since Aug. 20, and as of Sept. 7, he had not registered with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

Moreno was arrested Sept. 8 for class D felony failure to register as sex offender. Moreno was transferred to DDCRJ.
