Leila Rose was born July 11, 1921 and was the second child of Austin and Thaisa (Kinkade) Waters. She is survived by her daughters, Jone Perry of Gallatin, and Valorie Ormand (Kem) of Coppell, Tex.; granddaughters Ann Garrett (John) Van Alstyne, Tex. and Amber Wells (John) Jamesport; Chase Hamilton (Osan Air Base, S. Korea) and Stone Ormand, Coppell, Tex.; great-grandchildren Presley and Memphis Wells of Jamesport; and her sister Maxine Kilburn of Trenton. She was preceded in death by her husband Loyd; their son Ronnie; her parents; and siblings, Robert Waters and Norma Lea McWilliams.
Leila Rose was the spirit of resilience. She was raised during the Depression; her son, Ronnie died as a result of a tragic accident; she lost great friends and family who passed before their time; and she was a Leukemia survivor. Despite difficult times, she embraced life. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, entertaining friends and neighbors, participating in church, DAR, and CWF, and most importantly she loved her home and her family. She willingly embraced others into her life and they too became part of her family. She had an affinity for young people as she felt they kept her young and she was definitely young at heart.
Leila Rose was the epitome of style and grace that transcended many decades. Her reserved demeanor enabled her to have a quiet strength in both her professional and private life. She was passionate about business, current events, and college basketball.
Leila Rose and Loyd were a few months shy of celebrating their 72nd wedding anniversary before Loyd passed away in 2013.
