Daviess County is ahead of average amount of rain for the year by 6.11 inches and has had a total of 33.70 inches of rain by Aug. 30 (before the afternoon rain!), according to Kirby Payne at the Farm Service Agency.

Northwestern Missouri received more rain compared to the rest of the state last week, Aug. 22-28, according to the USDA Crop Progress and Condition report. There were 4.3 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending August 28. Temperatures averaged 75.6 degrees, 0.5 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 1.42 inches statewide, 0.60 inches above normal.
Soybeans are rated as 21% fair; 51% good; and 24% excellent. Corn is rated 11% fair; 58% good; and 28% excellent.
About 99% of the soybeans in the northwest district are blooming and 90% are setting pods and 4% are turning color. As for the corn, 98% is dough; 68% is dented; and 3% is mature.
For hay and other roughages, the northwest district rated 93% adequate; and its stock water supply was 96% adequate.
