Daviess County Courthouse News

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, met with commissioners. The crew is installing three tubes on 232nd Street in Washington Township and one on Waltz Avenue in Monroe Township. They are working on log jams in various places in the county. They are also correcting a road issue in Jackson Township. The tractor mower operator has finished mowing around bridges and culverts in Colfax Township and will be in Jefferson Township next.

The tax levy hearing was held at 9 a.m. Those in attendance were Betty Trimble, Marie Toney, Loren Uthe, Carolee Dixon, and Linda Evans. Carl Carder moved to have levy set at .1188 for Daviess County General Fund, seconded by David Cox. Motion carried.

Betty Trimble moved to have the levy set at .0496 for Daviess County Senior Services Fund, seconded by Carolee Dixon. Motion carried.

Jeremiah Turner, Marco Inc., discussed a phone system proposal for Daviess County. Commissioners will review the proposal.

Roger Barker and Gary King, PWSD #3, discussed emergency procedures for the water district and the county. Larry Belshe was in attendance during this discussion.

Ross Williams, tractor mower operator, discussed a project in Washington Township and other townships that need to be mowed and cleaned with commissioners.

Attending the bid opening for BRO-BO (35) were Ron Urton and Shannon Howe, Howe & Company, Terry Littrell, Boone Construction, and Joan Hays, Lehman Construction. Bids were submitted by Boone Construction and Lehman Construction. Boone Construction bids: Option A $479,464.20; Option B $509,430.40.  Lehman Construction bid: Option A $567,268.50; Option B – no bid. Howe & Company will review bids and update the commissioners on their results.

Howe & Company updated the commissioners on the bridges they are engineering in the county. Commissioners agreed to have the water lines moved in regards to MoDOT specifications and agreed on the need to also have a signed utility agreement with the water district.

Jeff Powell, Sybran Communications via teleconference, and Tony Figg, IT Consultant, discussed an idea for portability of phone numbers with a new phone system. There was discussion on the wiring project timeline for the courthouse and the office holders email address vendor changes.

Lance Rains, Green Hills Regional Planning Commission, and commissioners discussed the mitigation plan for emergency water issues. He will be in contact next week for any funding available for this.

Commissioners checked storm damage of a culvert in Monroe Township.
