Plans for the 5th annual Wright Run 5k/10k have been announced by the Wright Memorial Hospital Foundation in Trenton.  The 2016 event will be held on Saturday, October 1, in Trenton and will begin and conclude on the campus of Wright Memorial Hospital.  Participants will meet for their official send-off at the hospital and return there for their final lap on the hospital’s walking trail. This year’s Wright Run will include a Pink October Balloon Launch to honor those who have battled breast cancer.

Cost for participants will again be $25 for early registration and $30 for those registering after September 18.  The entry fee will include an official t-shirt and race bib.  For an additional $10, participants may order a long sleeve t-shirt.  Registration is available online at ItsYourRace.com and paper registrations can be found at Grundy Electric Cooperative, Premier Eye Care, Hy-Vee, Hometown Pharmacy, and Wright Memorial Hospital, all in Trenton.  Another first for the event will be a Kids Dash. This event will be free for children ten years of age and under, and participants are encouraged to wear their favorite super hero costumes.  Registration for the 5k/10k is at 7 a.m., the balloon launch at 7:45 a.m., and the race will begin immediately after the balloon launch, at 8 a.m.

All proceeds from the Wright Run will support the purchase of equipment and improvements for Wright Memorial Hospital.  In the past, funds from the Wright Run have financed projects including the new 3-D ultrasound machine, the 3-D mammography machine, the OB centralized monitoring system, and the hospital walking trail, just to name a few.

Parking for Wright Run participants will be at the Red Barn parking lot east of Iowa Blvd. There will be temporary street closings from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. that morning at Highway Y, 28th Street, Fisherman Road, and Lake Trenton Drive.
