At 10:53 a.m. on Aug. 22, Gallatin Fire was dispatched to Hwy. 13 and Upland Avenue south of Hwy. HH for a reported vehicle fire. Engine 101 responded along with five volunteer firefighters. The sheriff and a deputy also responded.

Upon arrival on scene, the fire department found a car on the southbound shoulder fully involved with flames. Traffic was completely shut down due to black smoke blocking view across the highway. Firefighters deployed a 1 3/4” hose line and the fire was extinguished using approximately 300 gallons of water.
The 2002 Chrysler Concorde was totally destroyed. The cause was determined as equipment failure.
