Funeral services for Alice Carter will be held Aug. 17 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, in St. Joseph. Interment is at McFall Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Aseracare Hospice.

Alice Pearl Carter, 93, St. Joseph, died Aug. 13, 2016, at a local care facility.
Alice was born on Sept. 5, 1922, to the late Albert and May (Johnson) Groetecke in Pattonsburg, where she was raised and attended school.
Alice married Daniel Dale Carter on Feb. 19, 1939. They celebrated over 53 years of marriage. During their union, she assisted her husband on their family farm in McFall.
Daniel preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1993.
Mrs. Carter was a member of the King City Methodist Church, Pythian Sisters and Temple 28 in King City. She was the first runner-up in the Ms. Missouri Nursing Home District Pageant in 2013.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by her two children, Lynda Howell, and Danny Carter; and four sisters.
Survivors include six grandchildren, Robert Howell (late Yvonne), David Howell, Steve Howell (Jada), Nathan Carter, Beth Kerns-Neff, and Gregg Grimaud; several great and great-great-grandchildren; nephew and son-in-heart, Alan Ray Carter; niece, Kathy Hammer; several additional nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Constance Bridgewater (Bill); son-in-law, Rex Howell (Joan).
