An open house for the new middle school at Gallatin will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8; refreshments will be served. Construction on the school was completed in mid-May of 2016. The middle school principal is Tiffany Otto.

The one-story building for the new middle school at Gallatin, located east of the present high school, has 9,000 square feet. There are eight classrooms, offices for the principal and secretary, a work room and office, a band room (storm shelter), special education rooms, and additional parking.
Construction of the new middle school became official July 3, 2015, with a groundbreaking ceremony on the school campus. By early August, 2015, footings were in place. At that point approximately 14% of the construction project was complete. By mid-August of 2015, plumbing and electric were complete and the concrete floor was ready to be poured (pictured). Vertical work was next.
By mid-September 2015, the storm shelter, with nine inches of concrete, was complete. The metal building arrived the latter part of September. It took around two weeks to raise the shell. By early 2016 siding had gone up and a roof was added. Exterior features of the metal frame structure include concrete slabs with brick wainscoting below the window line. A facade fronts a metal slant roof and hides rooftop air-conditioning units.
