Scott Ireland will be the new superintendent for Pattonsburg R-2. The Pattonsburg Board of Education offered him a one year contract during a special meeting held June 26.
Mr. Ireland was formerly with the Perry County School District.
He and his wife Karie have twin sons, Connor and Trevor. Their older son, David, is in the Army and was recently stationed in Virginia. David and his wife Amanda have two daughters.
Mr. Ireland graduated from Missouri State University. He earned his master’s degree from William Woods University and his specialist in education degree from Central Methodist University. He currently is pursuing his doctorate in education.
Mr. Ireland began his career in education as a physical education and middle school science teacher at Niangua R-5 School District, where he was also the boys’ basketball coach and athletic director.
He moved to Fordland R-3 School District, where he served seven years as physical education teacher, athletic director, and boys’ basketball coach. He then moved to Montrose, where he was high school principal, athletic director and boys’ basketball coach. By December of that first school year, he was also superintendent at Montrose R-14. While there, he coached the girls’ basketball team for two years, and won the state title.
In 2011, he moved to Pleasant Hope as a superintendent, and was hired in February 2013 by the District 32 Board of Education.
