A community choir interfaith activity, sponsored by the Park, will start off the weekend at 7 p.m. on July 3 at the Gallatin Methodist Church. “America the Beautiful” and “My Country Tis of Thee” will set the mood for the next day’s Independence Day celebration. (Open choir practices are every Sunday night at 7 p.m. at the Methodist Church up to the night of the event.)

Grammy-nominated country singer Bryan Fontenot will perform at 8:30 p.m. on July 4 at Dockery Park during a program scheduled prior to the fireworks. He will sing country and patriotic songs.

The July 4 event schedule will start with booths, games, and food at 5 p.m.; patriotic program at 8:30 p.m.; and the professional fireworks display at 9:45 p.m.

Jessie Toney will be cooking BBQ.

Free trolley rides will be available from the parking areas to the event and booths, thanks to equipment provided by both Gallatin Truck & Tractor and Terry Implement.

Park board members David Marble and Jack Hennen will organize parking with help provided by Police Chief Mark Richards.

Mr. Hennen is organizing the booths, including free bounce houses. The bounce houses will be located by lighting this year for extended use during the event.

Sally Black and Judy Elbert are in charge of advertising and sponsorship. Ms. Black noted the many generous sponsors involved in the July 4 celebration and the board expressed appreciation to everyone for their support.
