Funeral services for Margaret L. Evans were held May 24, 2016, at the New Salem Baptist Church in Independence. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin. Arrangements were by Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, Independence.
Margaret was born Jan. 25, 1926, the daughter of Cleo and Ruth (Dewitt) Runnels.
She married Charles Evans Feb. 15, 1944.
Margaret held numerous jobs over the years, one of them being a department head at K-Mart for 16 years.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles of 41 years; one son, Richard Evans; and a brother Vincent Runnels.
Survivors include one son, Bobby (Arleene) Evans of Liberty; three daughters, Patricia (Fredrick) Zimmermann of Hercules, Calif., Ruthann (Kenny) Bragaw of Blue Springs, and Charla (Joshua) Belcher of Independence; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one on the way.
