RogerW2The Pro Football Hall of Fame and Ford Motor Company paid tribute to Roger Wehrli at his alma mater, King City High School, last Thursday morning as part of the Hometown Hall of Famer program. An audience of 600, including students, teachers, the school’s marching band, friends and others, attended the ceremony.

Hometown Hall of Famer is a national program that honors the hometown roots of the greatest heroes of the game with special ceremonies and plaque dedication events in local communities. Thursday’s event in King City was the 100th Hometown Hall of Famer ceremony.

Wehrli, born in New Point, Mo. in 1947, attended the University of Missouri and was a first round draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 1969. Wehrli was named All-Pro and All-NFC five times and selected to seven Pro Bowls. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.

Also attending Thursday’s ceremony were Tom George, Market Representative for Ford Motor Company, and Hall of Fame Executive Vice President George Veras.
