Gallatin qualified 12 athletes last Saturday in six events for this upcoming weekend’s sectional meet to be held in Albany.
To move on from Saturday’s Class 2, District 8 meet, athletes had to finish in the top four in their respective events. This Saturday’s sectional will include athletes from District 7 for a total of 24 Class 2 schools. Albany will also be the site of the Class 1 sectional, which will run concurrently with Class 2.
Making Saturday’s trip to Albany for Gallatin will be Jacklyn Maize, Kylie Jeffers, Cora Stout, Emily Condie, Addison Stanley, Harris Cameron, Tate Hancock, Tanner Johnson, Chad Walker, Morgan Corwin, Braydon Walker and Caleb Boyd.
Hancock brought home Gallatin’s best placing of the day by capturing the district pole vault championship. He cleared the bar at 13’6” and will be joined at the sectional meet by Tanner Johnson, who finished third in the pole vault at 12’6”. The top vault at District 7 on Saturday was 11”.
Harris Cameron returns to sectional action after a second place finish in the discus event. He threw 148’10’ on Saturday. The top discus throw at District 7 was only 126’2”.
Gallatin sends four relay teams to sectional, including the boys’ 4×800 relay and 4×400 relay. The quartet of Chad Walker, Caleb Boyd, Morgan Corwin and Braydon Walker finished third in the distance relay in 8:47.10. Walker, Corwin, Walker and Hancock ran the 4×400 relay for third place in 3:39.
Two Lady Bulldog relay teams also move on the sectional meet. The 4×800 relay team of Kylie Jeffers, Cora Stout, Jacklyn Maize and Emily Condie finished second in 10:50. The 4×400 relay team of Maize, Jeffers, Stout and Addison Stanley placed fourth in 4:34.40.
