The 93rd Annual Altamont Alumni Banquet was held May 7, at the Altamont Fire Station with a social followed by a buffet. Lisa Daniels gave the invocation.
The memorial was given by Francie Toney. This year’s theme was “Singing Song Birds We Enjoy.” The table was decorated with colorful birds in honor of the ones who have passed away this past year: Donnie Pickering, T.R. and Russell Gallamore, Helen Johnson Gallamore, Sam Stith and Betty McKown.
Ina McFee sang “The Great Speckled Bird” in memory of Betty McKown who sang this song many times at churches and programs.
Lisa Daniels (Wilson) and her brother, James Wilson, sang two-part harmony songs “Hallelujah Square,” “It Is Well With My Soul” and “His Eye is On the Sparrow.”
Those attending chose gifts from a gift table, compliments of Tokey Sue Gardner and the Brown sisters.
A short business meeting was held and Lind Jones will again be presiding next year.

Marissa Hayer received the brightest singing bird, donated by Connie Walton in memory of his brother, Jerry Walton, who passed away recently in Surprise, Ariz.
