Betty J. McKown, 90, passed away April 27, 2016, in Gallatin. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin, where friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mt. Ayr Cemetery, Altamont.  Memorials are suggested to the Gallatin Senior Citizens Center

Betty was born in Altamont, on Oct. 12, 1925, the daughter of Asa R. and Betty (Stephens) McGinnis. She was a 1943 graduate of Altamont High School. On July 22, 1943, she was united in marriage to Willis McKown in Kansas City, Kan. They made their home on a farm near Altamont until relocating to Gallatin in 1966.

Betty worked at Yuille’s and at the McDonald Tea Room and also cleaned houses. She loved to read and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Betty was a member of the Gallatin Methodist Church. Betty loved her family and always enjoyed spending time with them. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Willis in 1979; son, Delbert McKown; brother, Jr McGinnis; son-in-law Jim Estes and daughter-in-law Pat McKown.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Bonnie Estes of Cameron, Marvel Beck and her husband Steve of Gallatin, and Betty Bryan of Owasso, Okla.; a son, David McKown of Overland Park, Kan., 20 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
