Janelle Leeper of rural Gallatin loves a fresh-brewed cup of coffee, so it was only natural for her first business venture be a small coffee shop. Only this shop is a little different than the usual coffeehouse…Janny’s Java is on wheels.
Janelle looked into several different buildings but none were suitable for her needs.
“That’s when I thought: ‘Why not get a traveling coffee truck where I could serve several small towns and also be available for festivals and special events?’”
Janny’s Java was born. The truck is a 93 E350 Ford box truck. The former flooring delivery truck went through some major interior renovations as it was converted to the mobile barista.
Gallatin will be her main focus and she will be there two set days a week. She also plans to be in different area towns, including Hamilton, Cameron, Trenton and Chillicothe, one day a week. Her weekends will be open for festivals and other special events.
Her first day open for business was at Gallatin’s city wide garage sale earlier in April, and customer response proved quite positive.
“I thought during all that garage selling, people could use a nice cup of coffee,” she said. “Business has been great. God has truly blessed me.”
Her next scheduled stops are at Jamesport’s May Day Festival on May 7, Polo’s Bringing Back Polo Days on June 4, and Hamilton’s Poker Run June 12-13.

She serves hot coffee; hot specialty drinks; iced coffees; frappes; iced teas, including flavored teas; hot tea; chi tea; lemonades, including flavored lemonades; and eventually she will add smoothies.
“I’ve learned how to make all my coffee drinks just from tasting others and experimenting with it myself,” she said. Her personal favorite is caramel cheesecake iced.
