County Commission

Jane McKinsey, recorder, submitted her certificate of training from the Recorders Association of Missouri for 2016 annual training hours.

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, and crew are replacing corrugated metal pipe in various areas in the county. During the rain, crews will be installing X-braces as noted by the 2016 bridge inspections from MoDOT.

Austin Hibler, MoDOT, submitted pictures of county bridges to the commissioners after their inspection of all bridges in the county.

George Winger, Sheridan Township, discussed road issues around Sheridan Township.

John Plaster and Jeremiah Turner, Data Comm, discussed phone systems for the courthouse. There will be follow-up from the county for current bills and phone line information.

Jeremy Buck discussed a bid for dedicated internet access and IP addresses for the courthouse.

Dick Carpenter, Harrison Township, discussed CART rock bids in regards to rock and hauling.

Tony Stonecypher, Gallatin City Administrator, and Keith Gay, Union Township, discussed the continuing progress of Oval Avenue and the north side of the Industrial Park area with commissioners.

Jeff McDaniel, Garland Company, Inc., discussed details of the nursing home roofing bids.

Commissioners viewed brush, bridges and roads in Union, Jefferson, Colfax and Liberty Townships.

Jay Gary Holcomb discussed issues with the drainage of a bridge on Axle Avenue in Salem Township.

Commissioners will be accepting bids for a 1998 Dodge ¾-ton truck for sealed bid opening at 10 a.m. on May 11.

Commissioners tabled an issue regarding vacation accrual for part-time employees.

These are the unapproved minutes of April 20, 2016. All commissioners were present. Minutes were approved, and bills authorized.

Circuit Court

Cases bound over from Associate Division: State vs. Troy Haga, Lincoln, Neb., DWI, alcohol, persistent offender, class D felony;

State vs. Sarah Pickren, Bethany, two counts of theft and two counts of theft of credit card, all class C felonies;

State vs. Jose Arenazas, Houston, Texas, possession of controlled substance, class C felony, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, class A misdemeanor;

State vs. Malia J. McFarland, Independence, burglary first degree, class B felony, possession of burglary tools, class D felony;

State vs. Clay A. Porter, Cameron, DWI, alcohol, persistent offender, class D felony, no valid license, misdemeanor, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, class A misdemeanor, failure to maintain financial responsibility, misdemeanor, and a seat belt infraction;

State vs. Marquis Leeks, Wichita, Kan., possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute, class B felony, possession of controlled substance, class C felony.

Civil cases filed: Kimberly Ray Goedeke, Hamilton, vs. Chad Matthew Goedeke, Hamilton, dissolution of marriage. Department of Revenue Collections Enforcement filed a certificate of lien, DOR, taxes, against Doran Jones Jr. and Starla K. Jones, both of Altamont.

Associate Division

Clifford Dunn, Grandview, was charged April 25 with passing bad checks, class C felony.

Defendants found guilty in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County are listed below with the offense and fine assessed. Additionally, court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $68.50 for moving traffic violations, and $116.50 in most criminal cases. Judge Daren L. Adkins presided over the following cases:

Kevin T. Stone, Chillicothe, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, $80.50.

Dillon P. Axton, Gallatin, possession of marijuana, suspended imposition of sentence, two years probation, 48 hours jail, board bill paid by defendant; possession of paraphernalia, suspended imposition of sentence, two years probation, 30 hours community service.

Jamie L. King, Jamesport, no valid license, prior offender, 6 months jail, suspended execution of sentence, two years probation.

Ivan Valderrabano-Cordero, Ames, IA, no valid license, $300; speeding $55.50.

Daniel J. Bonner, Lee’s Summit, possession of marijuana, prior offender, four days jail, board bill paid by defendant, Abuse and Lose Order; possession of paraphernalia, $150.

Sandra Hovey, Gallatin, no valid license, $150; careless and imprudent driving, $80.50.

Civil Court

Suits on account: Midland Funding LLC vs. Edward Bridgeman was dismissed by the parties.

Refused breathalyzer: Jeffrey Vogt vs. Director of Revenue was dismissed by the parties.

Petition for Declaratory Judgment: A default judgment was entered for Adam J. Albert et al and against Steven Unruh, et al.
