Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs moved to 4-0 in the Grand River Conference and 11-2 overall following their latest in a string of eight straight victories on Tuesday. The GHS girls now embark on a three-game road schedule to Albany, Lawson and Polo.
Gallatin’s 13-hit attack against Worth County on Tuesday carried the Lady Bulldogs to a 9-1 conference victory. Sami Boyd threw a second straight two-hitter to limit the Lady Tiger offensive.
Kelsie Huggins and Tristyn Siegel each singled twice and scored twice at the top of the order. Bailey Maxwell singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in a run. Maelea Coulson singled and drove in two runs with sacrifice flies.
Courtney Shubert singled twice and plated two runs. Aubrey Burns singled and scored. Karley Salmon drove in two runs with a fifth-inning single. Hayley Michael walked once and Boyd singled in the second and fifth frames.
The jayvee contest ended in a 2-2 tie after three innings. Salmon struck out five batters in just three frames.
GHS 7, Mid-Buch 2

Catcher Bailey Maxwell and third baseman Karley Salmon converged on a foul ball during Monday’s game against Mid-Buchanan.
Sami Boyd tossed a two-hitter in a 7-2 non-conference win over the Lady Dragons on Monday. Maxwell singled, tripled and drove in two runs.
Huggins singled and doubled with an rbi. Courtney Shubert and Hayley Michael each singled twice in the GHS win. Shubert also scored twice.
The junior varsity game ended in a 4-4 tie.
Tourney winners
The Lady Bulldogs held off a late rally by King City to capture the championship of the King City Tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Bulldogs held a 3-0 lead before the Lady Kats tied the game in the sixth. Gallatin scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead and slammed the door on the host team after allowing a single run in the seventh.
Huggins led the Bulldogs with three hits and two rbi.
The Lady Bulldogs scored in all but one inning in a 12-2 tournament-opening win over South Nodaway. Aubrey Burns and Karley Salmon each drove in three runs for the Lady Bulldogs. Salmon struck out seven to earn the win.
Marathon victory
Last Friday marked perhaps the longest game in GHS softball history. Gallatin scored twice in the top of the 14th inning to end a three-hour-plus contest at Stanberry with a 4-2 victory.
Gallatin led, 1-0, after three innings and 2-1 after six. Stanberry tied the game with a lone run in the sixth and another in the bottom of the seventh. The two teams battled scoreless for the next six innings.
Huggins walked to start the 14th. Maxwell tripled to right field to give Gallatin the lead. Coulson hit a sacrifice fly to score Maxwell.
Maxwell finished with four hits. Coulson singled with two doubles and drove in two runs. Huggins, Siegel, Burns and Michael each finished with two hits for Gallatin, which outhit Stanberry, 17 to 8.
Boyd, who struck out 12 batters, threw 185 pitches after staying on the mound for all 14 frames.
