Dear Editor:
This is to the residents of Winston, including myself.
I would like to explain to you why I resigned from the City Board of Winston. We worked hard to pass ordinances to better the town. We hired Lucille Lusk to draw up the ordinances and she did a bang up job. She had them all legal and no loop-holes for anybody to get out of. She also got the county court involved so everything would be legal.
I think everyone in town was for the ordinances as long as it didn’t pertain to them. When we tried to enforce them, we met resistance on every one of them, even from some of the board members that passed them. Then it was decided to ask for Lucille Lusk’s resignation, and also for the resignation of the ordinance enforcer.
So, at last meeting they asked for these resignations. They voted 3-yes; to 1 no; and 1 abstain. (Because he couldn’t vote, being her husband.)
We have five board members: Arvella Eaton, Autumn Caldwell, Jerry Lusk, Sarah Ragen, and myself, Bill Michael. So I guess I found out what they thought of me, so I resigned, and so did Jerry Lusk. I have been on the board for 12 or 13 years. I can’t remember when residents of Winston came to a meeting to support us. When they did come, it was to complain about one of the ordinances, because it had affected them personally.
Now, if you need any street or park maintenance, you will need to get hold of the new maintenance crew, which consists of Arvella Eaton, Autumn Caldwell and Sarah Ragen.
Hopefully your friend and neighbor,
Bill Michael
