Freshman Karley Salmon earned the win on the mound for Gallatin on Tuesday and drove in two runs with a homer that cleared the left field fence.

Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs moved to 3-0 in the Grand River Conference and 6-2 on the season with a pair of runaway victories over league opponents.

Gallatin spotted South Harrison two runs in the top of the first inning on Tuesday before exploding for five runs in each of the second and third innings.

Kelsie Huggins singled twice and drove in four runs for Gallatin. Tristyn Siegel doubled and drove in a pair. Bailey Maxwell singled, doubled twice and plated two runs.

Continuing the hit parade, Maelea Coulson singled twice, doubled and drove in two runs. Karley Salmon helped her pitching cause with a two-run homer in the third inning. Jaylee Baker singled, walked twice and finished with an rbi. Sami Boyd singled twice and drove in two.

Salmon pitched four strong innings, striking out five batters while giving up a pair of first inning runs on two singles and a walk. Boyd took the mound in the fifth inning and shut down South Harrison after allowing a double and run scored.

Gallatin also won the junior varsity contest, 12-3. Morgan Acree and Aubrey Feiden each had two hits. Coulson, Essie Williamson and Zoe Bradford each drove in two runs for Gallatin.

The Lady Bulldogs scored in four of seven innings against Princeton last Thursday and left the PHS diamond with a 12-6 conference victory. Gallatin built a 9-0 lead before the Lady Tigers got on the board with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Five different Lady Bulldogs finished with multi-hit games. Salmon went three for three with a double and run batted in. Siegel also doubled among her three hits. Coulson singled and homered with three rbi. Huggins singled, doubled and drove in a run. Boyd also had two hits.

Maxwell drove in three runs for Gallatin. Aubrey Burns and Courtney Shubert each plated a run.

Boyd struck out seven batters in earning the win on the mound.
