Funeral service for Rev. Owen Moody was held Sept. 5 at the Gashland Baptist Church in Kansas City. Interment was in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Jesus Film (Jesusfilm.org) or Give Bible League (Give.BibleLeague.org).

Rev. Owen Moody, 87, of Kansas City, died Sept. 2, 2015. He was born on April 15, 1928, in Heber Springs, Ark. Owen was a Southern Baptist Minister for over 40 years who had earned his Bachelors of Divinity from Central Seminary. Through the years, Owen pastored at four different churches, primarily serving at Gashland Baptist Church where he spent 26 years. He pastored at Gallatin First Baptist from 1983-1990. Owen retired from pastoral ministry in 1990. Sept. 19, 1950, Owen married Lora Faye Parker. To this union, two children were born.

Owen’s life-long mission was to introduce people to the Lord. Through personal soul winning while pastoring, he won over 275 to the Lord, performed 261 marriages and over 200 funerals. Owen is preceded in death by his parents, Alvie and Rachel Moody, brother, Jay Moody and sister-in-law, Edith Moody. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Faye Moody; one son, David (Terri) Moody; one daughter, Janna (Denny) Porterfield; two brothers, D.L. (Martha) Moody, and Charles (Lorene) Moody; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one on the way.
