Gallatin captured a second straight Grand River Conference title last season, going 19-5 before bowing out in the first round of district play. With five players returning with varsity experience, the Lady Bulldogs hope to be in the hunt for another conference crown.

Leading the charge for the Lady Bulldogs will be senior all-conference and all-district catcher Bailey Maxwell and junior all-conference and all-district shortstop Kelsie Huggins. Senior first baseman Aubrey Burns returns, as does junior pitcher/outfielder Sami Boyd and senior outfielder Tristyn Siegel.

Also returning on the roster are seniors Morgan Acree and Jaylee Baker, sophomores Aubrey Feiden, Courtney Shubert, Hayley Michael and Maelea Coulson. Newcomers include sophomore Jerilynn Hoover and freshmen Karley Salmon, Addison Burns, Essie Williamson, Bethany Bailey, Kelsey Maxwell and Zoe Bradford.

Competition for starting positions will continue right up to next Tuesday’s opener. The Lady Bulldogs open up on the road at Trenton, looking for their first season-opening win against the black and gold Lady Bulldogs since 2008.

Chad Sullenger begins his fourth year as Lady Bulldog head coach. He is assisted by Taryn Dustman, in her second season.

Golfers ready to go

The Lady Bulldog golf squad opens the 2015 season with action on four consecutive days, beginning Monday at Stanberry.

Two of three golfers return who earned all-conference honors last season. Kaitlyn Bird and Taylor Rardon finished in the top ten in the Grand River Conference and also qualified for Class 1 sectional play.

Also returning to the squad are junior Hattie Bradford and sophomores Kelli Lynch and Megan Cox. Newcomers to the group are junior Taylor Sloan and freshmen Ally Jo Johnson and Jacklyn Maize.

The Lady Bulldogs are coached by Cindy Boles.
