Fairview

Last Sunday the youth enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon of many activities at the Gage Center in Blue Springs. Later, they and their parents were treated to dinner at the Olive Garden restaurant. Congratulations and prayers to Charles and Cheryl Garlick on the arrival of their great-grandson, Linkin Ray Garlick. He weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces. Proud mother Heather and big sister Maty welcomed him home. Happy Birthday wishes to Colleen McCutcheon. Raymond Searcy prayed for all the ones on our prayer list. Opening music was led by Marilyn Searcy and accompanied by Marsha Vanisko. Pastor Bob McCutcheon read scriptures John 3:1-10 and brought the message “Born Again.” The Winston Ministerial Alliance Sing will meet Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. with music and refreshments at Fairview Community Church. Everyone is welcome.

Gallatin First Christian

The Praise Team began our 8:20 a.m. service with an opening song of praise. Stacey Maxwell began our 10:50 a.m. service with a hymn, with Barbara Wilson playing piano. Stacey Maxwell opened with announcements at both services. Linda Steward gave our children’s message at both services. Junior Stith shared scripture from Isaiah 64:1-5 and I Corinthians 2:1-8. Sunday, Aug. 23, is our “Back to School Breakfast Pizza Party” for the youth. Tuesday, Aug. 25, the CWF will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 1:30 p.m. August 30 will be our Combined Unity Service at 9:30 a.m.

Coffey Baptist

Our Sunday morning worship service opened with prayer by Pastor Eldon, and singing our praise hymn. “Trust and Obey” was our next hymn. The announcements were given. Bible study Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. Aug, 23, we will hold our fellowship lunch following the worship service, and our business meeting.

Please remember those on our prayer concerns list, call, write, or visit them if possible. The hymn “It is Well with My Soul” was sung, followed with a prayer for our nation and community. Pastor Eldon’s message was taken from Psalms 1:1-6. Our service closed with the hymn “The solid rock.”

Friends in Christ

Shonna Morrison welcomed everyone, and Peggy Earnst led us in prayer. Praise songs were “He Leadeth Me” and “Indescribable.” The message was “Preventative Circles” by Andy Stanley and was based on Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. We closed with The Lord’s Prayer. Small group time followed the message.

Gallatin First Baptist

Wood Marshall welcomed everyone and shared about upcoming events. Eric Corwin led intercessory prayer time, and the Celebration Choir led us in our call to worship. Jeremy Ripple led praise and worship, with Rob Terry, Linda Arnold and the Celebration Choir presented the morning special music. Bro. Garret’s message was “The Cost of Discipleship.” The annual church-wide picnic at Dockery Park was held Sunday.

Celebration Choir will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Adult Bible Study and JOY Youth will meet on Wednesday at 6 p.m. with Men’s Bible Study at 7 p.m.

There will be an outreach meeting on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m., and JOY Youth will meet at 6 p.m.

Women’s Wellness First Place 4 Health will begin their second session on Aug. 27 at 6:30. This meeting will be an orientation meeting for new members who wish to join. The first regular bible study class will begin on September 3 at 6:15 p.m. Please contact Deby Gann at 663-7850, if you wish to participate or have any questions.

Gallatin United Methodist

Pastor Mike Tipton opened the service as Mady Tipton and Kendra McMahon lit the altar candles. Joys and concerns were shared.

Melanie Tipton delivered the children’s message, “Help Someone Find Jesus” after which the children collected “Pennies for Packs” for Festival of Sharing. Pastor Mike officiated over a baptismal covenant for Rilynn Ann Wood, daughter of Stephen Wood and Samantha Smith, which was witnessed by the Wood and Smith families and the entire congregation.

Pastor Mike’s message, “Caring for the Least of These,” included a video presentation of his trip to Nicaragua.

The hot dog ministry’s last day is Aug. 19 from noon-1 p.m. rain or shine.

Aug. 23 will be the Blessing of the Backpacks during worship. Everyone going back to school please bring their backpack. August 30 will be dine in/carry out ham dinner. Call Nancy Tate for orders.

Prayer concerns are for the family of Dale Alexander, Justin Holt, Carl and Sherri Carder, and David McWilliams.

Olive Baptist

WMU met before Sunday school for time of Bible study and fellowship. In honor of “Children’s Sunday,” Luke and Janelle Leeper and Brittany Dolan performed a skit and Bible lesson about good examples from John 13. Sarah Ishmael’s children’s message was “Doing What God Wants” from I John 5.

Sunday evening we completed our Charles Stanley study on “How to Let God Solve Your Problems.” Aug. 23 we will have a “back to school” cookout beginning at 4:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. Church trip to “The Living History Farm” in Iowa will be Aug. 29. Please meet at the church at 9 a.m.

Pattonsburg Christian

Scripture reading was from Philippians 3:12-21. Rev. Terry’s sermon “Our World View” was from Matthew 7:24.
