Detective David Vaughn of the Gallatin Police Department reports that at about 9:51 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, a citizen in the 300 block of North Market contacted the police regarding an unidentified male who was walking north on the street carrying a black wallet/purse and throwing things from it into the street. Multiple residents in the area retrieved the discarded items along with the purse/wallet and turned them over to the police.

Detective Vaughn returned the retrieved items to the owner; the wallet had been taken from the owner’s car.
Detective Vaughn was not able to supply further details at this time as the investigation is active and ongoing. He said he is looking into several persons of interest and will provide more details when the investigation is closed.
