The 51st annual Michael reunion was held on Aug. 1, 2015. David and Kayla Michael hosted the event at their farm at Gallatin. Thirty-two members of the Michael family celebrated the heritage of Jesse Tillman Michael and Stella Ruth Cousins, who were married on Aug, 9, 1898. In keeping with Michael tradition, lunch was served at 12 noon following the blessing by Ted Michael of Hannibal. A delicious meal was provided by the families in attendance.
Several of the original siblings’ families were represented and reports were given about each branch of the family tree. Door prizes were won by Linda Harms (traveled the farthest), Alex Mayo (the courage to wear a Kansas shirt), Katie Reece (closest guess to the number of candies in a jar) and Kayla Michael (knowing the names of everyone present). The group signed a get well card for Barbara Wolf. She and Dean, her husband, had to miss the reunion and are long-time supporters who were greatly missed.
Other business included setting the date for the 52nd Michael Reunion for Aug. 6, 2016, to be held again at the home of David and Kayla Michael.
