Roger was born May 6, 1937, the son of Carl and Frances (Hartel) Eichler in Buffalo, N.Y. He attended Concordia Lutheran High School and College of Bronxville, N.Y., graduating in 1958 with two years of college. Roger was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nedra Edwards, when they eloped on Oct. 31, 1958, in Amherst, N.Y. The couple made their home in Buffalo and Roger began his working career at a grocery warehouse. Later, he was the manager of the Sherwin Williams Paint Store in Buffalo and was transferred to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1968, where he worked at the corporate office. He was later employed with the Wooster Brush Company as a traveling salesman and moved his family to Parkville, Mo., to be centrally located in the 14 states he covered. Roger missed being with his family however, so in 1976 he changed employers to work full-time in Kansas City. His career in sales continued as Supply Sales Manager with Electronic Business Equipment until the company was bought out by Danka in 1988. He then switched to administration until moving to Lake Viking in 1996 where he managed the Gallatin/Hamilton branch of Ferrell Gas. Upon “retiring” in 1998, Roger and Nedra fulfilled his lifelong ambition to be a business owner and started up Eichler’s Tax Service, where he continued to serve the community until his death.

Roger was community-minded and was always striving to cultivate his intellect and stimulate those around him. His wonderful sense of humor, cheerful attitude and the smile he always had on his face made him the upbeat positive man he was. His dedication and love for family, friends and community will be greatly missed.

In addition to serving the community with his business, Roger also served the community over the years at various Lutheran churches as a Sunday school superintendent, youth group chairman, elder, and congregational president.

He also served as past president, membership chairman, and yearly project leader for the Paul Harris Fellowship of the Gallatin chapter of Rotary, as well as current president of the Daviess County Library, and he was an active member of the Lake Viking Water Board while he lived at the lake.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard Eichler, sister, Betty Kaminska, and his beloved daughter, Nedra Prock in 1996.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nedra, of the home, son, Pastor Mark Eichler and wife Cheryl of Webster City, Iowa, Roger A. Eichler of Gallatin, daughter, Sally Eichler of Pleasant Valley, sister, Mary Hall of Buffalo, N.Y., grandchildren, Rebecca and Timothy Eichler of Webster City, Iowa, and Shannon and Jake Famuliner of Pleasant Valley.
