Garnett, who finished the Quicken Loans National in a tie for 21st place, opened the tournament with a 69 and 16th place standing after Thursday’s first round. His round of 65 on Friday was tied for second best in the field and at one time Garnett stood in second place after carding eight birdies on the day.
Tied for fifth place heading into Saturday, Garnett shot 72 to fall to 21st place, seven shots in back of the lead. He shot even par on Sunday to earn his fourth top 25 finish of the season. Garnett’s four-day total of 277 put him one stroke behind Tiger Woods for the tournament.
This week’s PGA stop moves across the country to Reno, NV, for the Barracuda Championship.
