John and Lori McLaughlin of Altamont have purchased the former BING’s convenience store and service station in Altamont and will hold a grand opening soon. The official paperwork was signed in May.
Becoming business owners has proven an adventure for Lori, the technology coordinator at Gallatin School District, and John, owner of J&L Manufacturing and a welding shop, and also a cattle farmer.
“There’s not any one thing we can pinpoint as our reason for doing it,” Lori said. “We missed the convenience of it being there and missed it when it closed. We thought it would be a good thing for the town and the community and people at Lake Viking.”
It has been a lot of work getting the convenience store and service station back open. A surprising number of vendors had to be contracted and a multitude of licenses acquired.
The name has been changed to Wall Street Station, which is the name of the cross street where it is located.
Wall Street Station will offer unleaded and high premium fuel along with clear diesel and number two or farm diesel.
Pizza will be available inside along with hot dogs and toronodoes and Pepsi fountain drinks. A Pepsi slushie called Arctic Chill will be new to the area.
The outside of the building has been painted red and the canopy is now extended to go from the pumps to the building. The interior and the coolers are also red.
Stephanie Phelps has been hired as cashier and Laura Hoyle will also be cashier and make the pizza. More help may be added later.
