There are a few places in Daviess County where the gravel roads run right up near the Grand River. This one is off Saber Road across the MaGill Bridge on the south side. Highway O begins on the north side and goes on to Hwy. 6. The Grand has encroached until there is no longer a crop field, just a grassy strip. It’s an interesting enough drive when the sand bars are in sight, but when the river is crested nearly bank full, well, watch those washboard ruts and pot holes….one careless move and you’ll be floating in muddy water all the way to the Mississippi!
