County Commission
July 20, 2015
James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, met with commissioners regarding the road and bridge work around the county.
Bills were reviewed and approved.
The Board of Equalization convened at 8:45 a.m. and concluded at 11:20 a.m. Board of Equalization activity is reported in a separate story in this issue. The Board of Equalization will reconvene at 9:30 a.m on July 29.
Regular session for the commission reopened at 11:20 a.m., and Carl Carder left at 11:30 a.m.The commissioners reviewed roads and bridges in Jamesport and Jefferson Townships in the afternoon.

On July 22, the commissioners are traveling to Jefferson City to meet with Ron Walker, SEMA Director. The commission will resume regularly scheduled Wednesday meetings on July 29.
July 15, 2015
James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, met with commissioners regarding the completion of storm damage repair. Work is almost complete except for finishing Ridge Avenue. There is finishing work on BRO-BO31 (35) – 242nd Street for mulch around the bridge.
Chip Winger, Sheridan Township, submitted a letter from seven of the citizens of Sheridan Township. They are objecting to the closing of 210th Street between one quarter of a mile north of HH to Sunset Avenue and Sunset Avenue from 210th Street to 208th Street. The second reading of the road closure will be at 9 a.m. July 29.
The commissioners received information from Access II, ILC, regarding services that they provide to the communities.
Bills were reviewed and approved.
Ron Urton discussed BRO-B031 (35) and the commission signed “Request for Right of Way Acquisition Authority (A-Date)” for the bridge. There was discussion on BR#430001.0 on Jump Road and BR#431002.4 on 292nd Street regarding the Bridge Engineering Assistance Program (BEAP) monies for the repair/rebuild of these two bridges. On July 9, David Cox and Carl Carder had met with Ron Urton, Howe Company, to review these bridges regarding BEAP.
Betty Harmison, assessor, met with commissioners regarding Board of Equalization procedures for the July 20 meeting.
The commissioners entered into closed session in accordance with RSMo 610.021 for legal matters at 9:55 a.m, and returned to open session at 10 a.m.
Joe Reed, Harrison Township, discussed roads, low-water crossings and time line for road work to be performed on Waltz Ave. The county’s road and bridge crew is about 80 percent complete on storm damage. Crews will be sent to work on the Waltz Avenue next week, weather permitting.
Commissioners reviewed roads, brush, and storm damage updates in Jefferson Township.
Paul Caven, Grand River Township, discussed an issue regarding a citizen filling up ditches on Lilac and 255th Street after they have been cleaned out by the township. Commissioners will follow up with the individual.
