Altamont United Methodist

Favorite hymn songs of praise were selected for our Sunday School service with Velma Talbott at the organ. Lesson focus was from Micah 7:20. We must act justly in a world of tough breaks, be merciful and walk humbly with God.

We were happy to have Barbara Youtsey back again after getting acquainted with her new grandson in Ohio. We will be having a church picnic and swimming at Lake Viking in August. We enjoyed homemade candy made by James Wilson. Come join us anytime, you are always welcome; service time is 9:30 a.m.

Lake Viking

“We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise” opened worship. Johnny Brown welcomed all first time visitors. Cathy Coleman sang “No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus” for the special music. Pastor Robert Nelson preached on “Visited by the Angel of the Lord” from John 13:34-35.

Lake Viking Church is gearing up for the Son-West Roundup VBS July 27- 31. This will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. and is open to all ages. Come on out and have a rip-roaring good time with Jesus.

The Ladies Bible Study Group will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Youth Group meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and the Evening Bible Study Group begins at 7 p.m. Lake Viking Church is located just outside the east entrance to Lake Viking. Our Sunday School begins at 9 a.m. and our worship service begins at 10 a.m.

Friends in Christ

Kim Brammer welcomed everyone, and Peggy Earnst led us in prayer. Our praise song was “Shout to the Lord.” We began a new sermon series, “Bottom of the Ninth.”  The message “Stepping Up to the Plate” was based on Matthew 19:23-26. Small group time followed the message. The youth group had a barbecue and went swimming Sunday evening.

Gallatin First Baptist

Welcome back to our pastor who was on vacation. Announcements were shared. Jim Ruse lead prayer time. The Celebration Choir led us in our call to worship with Mike Henderson leading worship. VBS children presented the special music. Bro. Garrett’s message was from Isaiah 30:19-22, “Five Ways God is Gracious to His people.”

Adult Bible Study or JOY Youth is at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Keenagers will be on Aug. 13 (please note the change in date).

Children’s camp will begin next week, July 27-31. If your child needs a ride to camp, please contact the church office 663-2331. We will be taking the church bus and van.

The JOY Youth will be going on a Mission Trip to Lenox, Iowa, on Aug. 7 and 8.

They will be working with church planter Mitch Green.

Gallatin First Christian

The Praise Team began our 8:20 a.m. worship service with an opening song of praise. Stacey Maxwell shared announcements and Janet Hart gave the children’s message at 8:20 a.m. service. Don James with Gideon International gave a presentation at both services about the mission and ministry of the Gideons. Stacey Maxwell shared announcements and Ashley Ishmael gave the children’s message at 10:40 a.m. service.

Please continue to pray for our Guatemala Mission Team (Pastor Russ, Theresa and Sam Joseph Hamilton, Todd Holcomb, Tim Tadlock, Shelley Fales, and Aubrey Roach); they will return July 25, and will do two mission trip presentations (8:20 a.m. and 10:50 a.m.) on July 26. Vacation Bible School begins July 29 through Aug. 1—see Gallatin First Christian Church Facebook page. There will be no adult Bible Study on July 29.

Gallatin United Methodist

Mady Tipton lit the altar candles at the 11 a.m. service. Melanie Tipton delivered the children’s message, “5 Finger Prayer.” Pastor Mike Tipton’s sermon “In the Garden, During My Sweet Hour of Prayer, Love Lifted Me” was based on scripture Luke 18:1-8.

Our congregation will donate canned soft drinks for the fundraiser for Christopher Cameron on August 15 on the courthouse lawn. Please put them in the fellowship hall prior to that day.

Hot dog ministry continues each Wednesday through August 19 from noon-1 p.m., rain or shine. July 22 at 6 p.m. at the church, there will be a meeting with representatives from United Methodist Foundation in Columbia. The congregation is encouraged to attend.

July 26 will be dine in/carry out meatloaf dinner. Call Nancy Tate for carry out orders. July 27 UMW will be going to Hamilton for a quilt tour and dinner. Meet at the church at 2 to carpool.
