County Commission

The next county commission meeting will be on Monday, July 20, in conjunction with the Board of Equalization. There will be no regular commission meeting next Wednesday.

Tonya Lohman, MoDOT, discussed the bridge repair over Honey Creek on Highway 13. MoDOT will be repairing the deck and curbing, and fixing caps on the bridge. There was discussion on alternate routes and the quality of State Highways CC and HH. MoDOT would like discussion on the hardship of the farmers in the surrounding areas which are affected. Larry Belshe mentioned that the detour for the bridge is coming down Rustic Avenue and there is need for maintenance of those back county detour roads, especially on the curve of 230th and Ridge Avenue.

Bills were reviewed and approved.

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, met with commissioners for discussion on Ashwood Avenue and State Highway ZZ in Benton Township, regarding maintenance with placement of rip-rap. Storm damage repair is still ongoing for the county.

Pastor Nelson asked to have a fundraiser/benefit for Christopher Cameron on the courthouse lawn on the evening of Aug. 15. Request was granted.

The state tax assessment assessor’s reimbursement for 2015 has been increased from $3.00 to $3.1452.

Ordinance 2015-5, Code of Ethics, was approved by commissioners.

The Marion Township “Notice to Proceed” for CART rock will be sent to Trager Limestone.

The 2015 contract for No-Load Safety Test for Express Elevator Company was signed.

Commissioners attended a webinar regarding an application for road and bridge procedures from Facilities Dude.

David Cox exited the meeting at 10:14 a.m.

Jeanie Cunningham and Justin Johnson, Show Me Benefits, discussed employee benefits for county employees.

Commissioners reviewed roads, brush, and storm damage updates in Jamesport, Washington, Salem, Liberty and Monroe Townships.

Circuit Court

Cases bound over from the Associate Division: State vs. Jake E. Frazier, Jamesport, two counts of possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute, class B felony, drug paraphernalia, class A misdemeanor; State vs. DaWayne Billups, St. Joseph, possession of a defaced firearm, class B misdemeanor, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, class A misdemeanor; State vs. Toby D. Griffin, Trenton, DWI, alcohol, persistent offender, class D felony; State vs. Dennis Wyant, Liberty, 7 counts of passing bad checks, class C felony; State vs. Donna J. Sweat, Pattonsburg, two counts abuse or neglect of a child, class C felony.

Civil cases filed: State of Missouri vs. Leslie D. Harrison, Bethany, petition for forfeiture of 1999 Ford Ranger Pickup, pursuant to criminal activity forfeiture act; Midwestern Health Management Inc. Vs. Darla J. Tolle, Gallatin, suit on account. Certificates of lien, DOR, Collection Enforcement, were filed against Brian E. and Lori Bolin of Cameron, Kevin G. and Penny Hanes of Jamesport, and Clarence W. Howell III of Amazonia and Jeanetta S. Howell of Gallatin.

Associate Division

Defendants found guilty in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County are listed below with the offense and fine assessed. Additionally, court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $68.50 for moving traffic violations, and $116.50 in most criminal cases. Judge Daren L. Adkins presided over the following cases:

Martha Webb, Gainsville, no valid license, $300; speeding, 5 days jail.

David Collins, Maysville, conservation violation, suspended imposition of sentence, 1 year probation, 30 hours community service.

Tanner Jones, Cameron, possession of marijuana, 2 days jail; possession of paraphernalia, $150.

Sylvester Williams, Ottumwa, IA, no valid license, $300; speeding, $58.50.
