Billie Lorene Spangler, 85, died at her home on July 3, 2015, with her family by her side. Memorial services for Billie will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Jamesport. Inurnment will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Jamesport.

Billie was born Jan. 5, 1930, in Gallatin, to Loren Clark Morrill and Daisy Marie Watson Morrill, the second of six children. She graduated from Jamesport with the Class of 1947 and soon began teaching at McClung School, near Jamesport.

On Sept. 3, 1948, Billie married Henry Dale Park. They were parents of three children, Jacquelyn Kay, Pamela Ann and Steven Dale. He preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1981. On June 5, 1986, Billie married Dr. A.H. Soe in Manilla, Iowa. Dr. Soe died July 3, 1988. On Aug. 1, 1998, Billie married her best friend, Robert Spangler.

While a stay-at-home mom when her children were growing up, she volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den mother, a room mother and a kindergarten Sunday School teacher for many years.

In 1969 Billie began working for Cass County, first as deputy recorder, then as a deputy clerk of court. In 1979 she began working as the office manager and legal secretary for the Crawford County Attorney’s office until her retirement.

Billie was baptized in the First Christian Church in Gallatin at the age of twelve. She later transferred her membership to the Presbyterian Church in Atlantic, Iowa, where her children were baptized.

She operated craft and gift shops in Manilla.

Billie was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Atlantic, the American Legion Auxiliary in Manilla, the Helping Hand Club, the Red Hat Society, and the Manilla Historical Association. She served as a local and district president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Dale Park and Dr. A.H. Soe, a daughter Jacquelyn Warner, a sister Carolyn Rich, and a brother Rex Morrill.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Spangler, daughter Pamela Hall (Brian), son Steven Park (Dianne), step-son James Spangler (Betty), step-daughter Audrey Dukes (Curtis); sisters Norma Gilgour of Chillicothe, Jana Potter (Carl) of Molalla, Ore.; brother, Jack Morrill of Breckenridge; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren;  nine great-grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
