The annual Daviess County Jr. Livestock Show will be held this year on July 9, 10 and 11 at the fair grounds located inside Dockery Park.

The Daviess County Jr. Livestock Show will open the afternoon of July 9 with the Swine Show at 5 p.m. There will be a PeeWee Show immediately following the champion boar drive at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Katie Martin is this year’s General Superintendent along with the daily emcee. Marcia Bird is in charge of concessions at the livestock show and Alicia Chrisman is the Fair Board President.

The Invitational 4-H and FFA Livestock Show is open to all 4-H and FFA members living in any county in Missouri and enrolled in respective livestock projects, or belonging to 4-H Clubs or FFA Chapters. Points will be earned in conjunction with the Invitational Show to Daviess County only FFA and 4-H members.

This year’s schedule will be as follows:

Thursday, July 9: 4 p.m.: Swine in place; 5 p.m.: Swine Show; 5:30 p.m.: PeeWee Show (approximate start time).

Friday, July 10: 9 a.m.: Sheep in place; 10 a.m.: Sheep Show; 10:30 a.m.: PeeWee Show (approximate start time); 12 noon: Goats in place; 1 p.m.: Goat show (immediately following Sheep Show)

Saturday, July 11: 9:30 a.m.: Rabbit Show; 9:30 a.m.: Poultry/Waterfowl Show; 4 p.m.: Beef in place; 5 p.m.: Beef Show; 5:30 p.m.: PeeWee Show (approximate start time); 5:30 p.m.: Whole Hog Barbeque.

Last year 179 exhibitors showed 507 animals. There were 78 head of cattle, 109 head of sheep, 44 head of goats, 20 rabbits, 63 poultry and waterfowl and 193 head of swine.

Concessions will be open daily serving grilled pork burgers, hamburgers and hotdogs. Biscuits and gravy will be served Friday morning along with homemade cinnamon rolls. On Saturday, July 11, everyone is invited to enjoy a whole hog barbeque starting at 5:30 p.m. until the pork runs out during the beef show. You will have a choice of barbequed pork sandwich, chips and a drink for $3.50 or you can enjoy a meal of barbequed pork, baked beans, homemade potato salad and a drink for $6. Admission to the livestock show is free.
