The Daviess County Arts Council is excited to announce the theme for Daviess County’s 30th Annual Chautauqua: “Blast Back to the Future celebrating 30 Years of Chautauqua.” The festival is scheduled for Sept. 17-20 on the Gallatin square.

Thirty years ago the first Chautauqua was held. That same year, Universal Studio’s blockbuster hit Back to the Future starring Michael J. Fox was released on the big screen. In the second Back to the Future movie Marty McFly went to the year 2015.
The arts council will celebrate these coincidences by making Universal Studio’s “Back to the Future” and the 1980s the theme of this year’s festival. In honor of the movie theme, on Saturday, Sept. 19, there will be live movie re-enactments throughout the day. A full size replica of the Back to the Future DeLorean will be on display, and there will be various other movie themed activities.
There will also be other activities based around the 1980s theme including the 5k and the dance. Watch for more details about the Chautauqua in upcoming issues!
