Amy Heldenbrand was selected to fill the open position on the Gallatin R-5 Board of Education during their meeting held June 17. She will begin at the July meeting. The position became open when Priscilla Whitt moved her residence from the district. Others applying were Anita Riley and Diane McLey.

Lunch prices were set at $2.85 for high school students and $2.55 for elementary students for next year. The increase was necessary because of DESE requirements for lunch reimbursement. Breakfast prices will remain at $1.50 for the elementary hot breakfast and $1 for the high school grab and go breakfast.

Admission prices will remain the same as last year for all events.

Bids for consumable products were accepted from MFA for fuel, Hiland Dairy for dairy products, Sara Lee for bread, and Gallatin Lumber for paint.

Mr. Croy presented a preliminary budget for next year, and it was approved.

The contract with Wilcott Construction for the Middle School Building was approved pending possible revisions with the school attorney.

A teacher’s aide contract was approved for Jenny Youtsey.

A special meeting date was set for 7:30 a.m. on June 29 to close out the year’s finances and reconcile the accounts.

Three fundraising requests for the wrestling program were approved.

Superintendent Dennis Croy is retiring at the end of the month, and the board presented him with a gift in recognition of his time and service to the district.

Public comment included a letter from Rick Lin thanking the board and the district for his employment at Gallatin R-5. Mr. Lin (assistant principal, A+ Coordinator and Athletic Director) retired at the end of the 2015 school year.

Next regular meeting was set for Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library.
