The crew of the City of Gallatin set a 42 foot flag pole with 6×10 flag at the north entrance of Gallatin on June 10. Gallatin Rotary and the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Veterans of Foreign Wars have been involved in the project. The idea for the project started in 2014 with Rotary President Linda Houghton leading the fundraising. The DAR installed the original flag pole. Last spring the Gallatin Rotary formed a committee to organize placing the new pole. Barry Wood poured the concrete. Terry McLey painted the pole. The City of Gallatin with assistance from John Mort dug the hole and wired the electricity. Rotary plans to do landscaping and recognize the three organizations involved with the project.
