Gallatin First Christian
Sue Bird and our Praise Team began the 9:30 a.m. combined unity worship service with songs of praise. Two special songs were performed by Cloey Waterbury, Hailey Holcomb, Breanna Filley, and Carli Beck. Elder Carl Carder shared announcements, an update on his health, and the joy of a new grandson (Owen Michael born to parents Justin and Brook Kreatz). Theresa Hamilton shared a prayer concern for her mother, and announced her resignation from the church office position as she will be a teacher’s aide at Gallatin in the fall. She explained that the aide position will work well with her coursework at Phillips Theological Seminary as she pursues a Master of Divinity degree and ordination.
A children’s message was shared by Judy Stith. Pastor Russ Hamilton read from John 3:1-17, “Trinity.” In appreciation of our music ministry we thank: Sue Bird, Sandy Evans, Stacey Maxwell, Kim Ness, Scott Widner, Barbara Wilson, Barry Morrison, Leila Prewitt, and Linda Steward. A special love gift was presented to Sue Bird from the FCC leadership as she begins her summer sabbatical; she was honored for many years of dedication to the church’s music ministry.
Upcoming next week: Seven FCC youth, Pastor Russ and Theresa Hamilton, and Becky Butler will travel to the Heifer International Ranch in Perryville, Ark., to participate in a “Global Challenge.” During Youth Sunday on June 14, the group will share their experience with the congregation. Prayer wheel updates: Elizabeth Dowler, Janet Hill, and Carol Hester.
Gallatin Assembly of God
Wednesday fellowship and study was “The Body of the Church.” Adult Sunday School lesson was Acts 12. Jim Leonard led discussion. Central thought was “we must keep our trust in God.” Morning service began with “I Will Bless Thee O’ Lord.” Zoe Smith directed worship. Mona Roberts shared a special. Ina McFee gave a report on missionary offerings. Many prayer requests were received. Pastor Smith’s sermon was “What Do You See?” from Numbers 13.
Gallatin First Baptist
A time of fellowship was held at the beginning of worship, with Bro. Garrett presenting the welcome. Shelly Sims shared about the items needed for Haiti Mission trip. Mike Henderson led prayer. The Celebration Choir led us in worship with Mike Henderson leading singing. Ty Hanson, John Corwin and Jonathan Arnold presented the morning special. “Same Sex Marriage Issue” was the topic for Bro. Garrett’s message.
Please join us each Wednesday evening at 6 for Adult Bible Study and a time of prayer for our community and nation. JOY Youth will also be meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, and Men’s Bible Study will be at 7. Women’s Wellness Ministry will meet Thursday at 6:15 p.m. Keenagers will meet for their noon luncheon on June 4 with Deanna Lewis from AARC sharing items of interest for seniors. A Pioneer Club Luncheon will be held June 7.
Homecoming 2015 will be held at the Baptist Home in Chillicothe June 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with musical entertainment, bake sale, guided tours, and games for children of all ages, fishing and outdoor barbecue (free-will offering). Everyone is invited to attend.
Altamont United Methodist
Trinity Sunday was observed with three white candles lit, one God in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Hymn of praise was “Holy, Holy, Holy.” Children’s time was “Reunions are nice. Jesus prepared a meal for his last supper.”
Charles Allen and James Wilson collected our tithes and offerings. Scripture was by Barb Youtsey, “If We Share Christ’s Suffering, We Will Also Share His Glory.” The Kidder ladies have invited us to their UMW salad luncheon on June 17.
We have services at the Gallatin nursing home at 2 p.m. June 7. We were happy to have Johnathan and Jacob Youstey of Cameron as visitors. Pastor Marilyn’s message was “More than a Mystery.” A prayer concern was for Georgia Maxwell.
Gallatin United Methodist
The prelude was played by Jan Johnson as Karlie Roe and Kendra Johnson lit the candles as Pastor Mike Tipton started the worship service. Melanie Tipton delivered the children’s message “Using Our Tongues for Good.”
Pastor Mike based his sermon, “If You Don’t Have Anything Nice to Say…” on James 3:1-10. Steve Lien blessed the congregation with a solo, “It is Well with My Soul” during the offertory. Bonnie Stewart introduced her family after which her grandson, Drew Miller, sang “We Believe.”
Hot dog ministry continues each Wednesday through the summer from noon-1 p.m. The community is invited to come eat a free hot dog/chips on the south side of the church.
Pastor Mike will be attending annual conference and Steve Lien will fill the pulpit next Sunday. June 12-14 is Resound Fest at Miracle Hills Ranch at Bethany, and Mike and Melanie Tipton will serve in the prayer tent. June 14 is administrative board following the morning service. Prayer concerns continue for Dale Alexander, Lois Yost, Carl Carder, and Terry Hamilton.
