The 135th Army Band Brass Band will perform at this year’s 4th of July Celebration in Gallatin, according to Joseph Billings with the Gallatin Park Board. Soldiers with the Army National Guard will also display military gear, including a M777A2 155mm howitzer, which has a barrel length over 16 feet long.
The 135th Army Band Brass Band, also known as the Bear Brass, is a Musical Performance Team of the 135th Army Band, a unit in the Missouri Army National Guard stationed in Springfield. The team includes trumpets, French horns, trombone, tubas, and a percussion.
In other business at the May 21 meeting of the park board, the board decided to hold off on dragging the pond until it dries up to avoid tearing up the park grounds.
Sally Black was appointed as the new board treasurer.
Bills in the amount of $9,557.89 were approved for payment.
A discussion ensued regarding charging daily fees for RV parking at the park. It was decided that Nick Walker would purchase collection boxes and place them at the RV parking site. Jeremy Dungy motioned to allow a $200 budget for the initial set up and for the park to charge $25 per day.
A stump grinder will be rented for city workers to use to eliminate the existing tree stumps from the park prior to the July 4 holiday.
Some of the locks at the park will be replaced.
The board examined estimates for various improvements to the park.
