The Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail Board discussed the jail management system through the Missouri Association of Sheriffs and the board agreed to send a letter of intent to them during their meeting on May 21. The more counties that sign for the system, the cheaper the price.

Ed Howard gave the financial report which was accepted by the board. Sales tax income for May was $58,588.25; Commissary grossed $11,934.15; CD Account balance is $235,909.24; Sales Tax Account balance is $304,123.03; Operating Account balance is $5,775.91; Payroll Account balance is $179.64. A refund check from MAC Work Comp Insurance was received in the amount of $3,467.00.  For the first four months of 2015 Daviess County would have had to pay $133,640.00 for inmate housing and DeKalb County would have had to pay $218,000.00.

Pepper Spray Training will start next month.

Sheriff Mark Owen and Captain Joseph King from Platte County are planning to visit the jail. Captain King is also a licensed attorney who is familiar with record disposals. The jail will look toward him for guidance in disposing of its records.

The jail is waiting for its ORI number to be set up.

CBM (Food Service) contract was renewed.

Mr. Allison commented about the good job the trustee workers did at the DeKalb Courthouse. They cleaned around the courthouse and also painted the stripes. He asked that the same crew to help on Monday for Memorial Day Festivities. They will be there from approximately 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. The board gave permission for them to go to DeKalb County.

Discussion on vehicles was held. St. Genevieve County will open bids May 21 for the 2005 Dodge Van. The board had put in a bid for $8,000. Daviess County Sheriff’s Department will be trading in a 2008 Trail Blazer to Republic Ford, Republic, Mo.

The board accepted a motion to buy the 2008 Trail Blazer from Republic Ford for $4,700.

Next meeting will be June 26, 2015.
