Timber around the McDaniel farms, located along Forest Avenue about six miles northeast of Jameson, received damage from a storm that went through at about 1 a.m. Sunday morning. A farm home was barely missed by the high winds, possibly a tornado. The damage started about a half mile south of Forest Avenue and continued in a northeasterly direction for about a mile and a half. In its past history, the area has had two tornadoes wipe out farm sheds and barns. Only last year in March the tail of a twister dropped down and passed through this area demolishing two houses and flattening barns and trees along its path. With this storm, a good mile to mile-and-a-half swath of trees received visible damage with mangled limbs and some trees completely uprooted. No one was injured, though a family pet is missing and a reward is being offered (see this post).

A Mennonite family and an “English” driver had to turn back Sunday morning due to floodwaters at Hwy. M, north of Breckenridge in Daviess County. Flood warnings were issued for several county highways, all of which have expired. Anywhere from two to four inches of rain fell over the weekend. Flood warnings remain for the Grand River near Gallatin, Pattonsburg and Chillicothe until today (Wednesday). More rain and flooding is expected later in the week.
