The Gallatin Co-Ed Youth Soccer Program wrapped up another successful season on Saturday, May 2, at Dockery Park. Over 80 youth from Daviess County came out to participate in age groups ranging from 4-16 years. Teams played in six spring games over a 10-week period.
In addition to a great season of play, two area youth – Karina Hacking and Ayden Wayne – completed the American Youth Soccer Organization referee course and became certified officials for the league.
A group of dedicated volunteers stepped up to make the season possible. Ben Hacking and Whitney Griffin organized and directed the league, while David Roll, Briar Roll, McKay Marble, Karina Hacking, Ayden Wayne, and Whitney Griffin handled the referee duties.
Chris and Kayla Mowre and Elizabeth Lawinger coached the U6 age group. Don and Shawn Ohlberg and Clay Fewins coached the U8 teams. Ben and Mary Hacking and Janna Qualman coached the U10 division, and Deborah Warner and Jen Johnson served as coaches for the U17 teams. Special thanks to Bob Robertson for assisting with park scheduling and laying out the fields.
Looking to build upon the season’s success, plans for a fall season of Gallatin co-ed soccer are underway. Games are tentatively scheduled to begin mid-August, with registration forms available in early July.
