Winston Redbirds Win Three of Four HDC Track Championships

Jordan Leonard led the way for the Redbirds, winning all three sprint races and taking second to teammate Chevy Calhoon in the long jump event. Austin Rhoades won three distance races for Winston. Calhoon also won both hurdles events.

Pattonsburg’s boys claimed fourth HDC championships including Peyton Jones for the high jump, Carl Parman in the discus and the 4×400 and 4×800 meter relay teams.

Winston’s girls also won the HDC varsity title, as did the Redbird junior high boys. The junior high girls finished fourth.

Individual winners for the WHS girls were Carly Gordon, 200-meter dash, Josie McFee, 1600- and 3200-meter runs and Bailey Curtis, triple jump. Other county winners were Hailey Burrows of Gilman City in the 800-meter run, Kelly Warford of Pattonsburg in the high jump and the PHS 4×400 and 4×800 meter relay teams.
