Gallatin First Christian

The Praise Team and Sue Bird began our 8:20 a.m. worship service with opening songs of praise. Elder Sandy Evans shared greetings and prayer. Pastor Russ Hamilton led the Senior Graduate Recognition and presented each with a study bible and some advice. Seniors present were: Colten Beck, Kylie Collins, Jeff Dreesen, Aubrey Nelson, Kailey Salmon, Tannah Terry, and Josie Widner. The Praise Team (joined by Aubrey Nelson) sang a special, “Friends.” Next, Scott Widner and Chuck Weldon officiated over the archery graduation for session two youth; each was presented with an archery pin. Pastor Russ read from Acts 8:26-40 and shared a message, “Our Journey.”

At our 10:50 a.m. service, Elder Joyce Hemry shared greetings, prayer, and a children’s message. Our graduating seniors were recognized again. Leila Prewitt played the piano and Kim Ness was our song leader.

Upcoming: National Day of Prayer is Thurs., May 7 at noon, meet at the Daviess Co. Courthouse flagpole. This Sunday we will have Youth Group breakfast and meetings at 9:40 a.m. Prayer wheel updates: family of Dixie Wells, family of Corey Lewis, David Karstens, Dotty Glidewell, and Elvin Noel.

Altamont United Methodist

Megan Cox of Jamesport and Steve and Mary Toney of Hamilton were welcome visitors. Children made and decorated May baskets. Adult study was “why we should carefully choose our role models,” from John 3:1-14.

A nice surprise reception after Sunday School was for the 75th birthdays of Susie Walton and Francie Toney. Chris and Bertie Stith are happy grandparents of a new granddaughter. Come and join us for a special Mother’s Day worship this Sunday. Altamont Alumni Banquet will be May 9 at the Altamont Fire House. Social hour is at 6:30 and evening meal is at 7 p.m. Closing hymn was “Living for Jesus.”

Friends of Christ

Shonna Morrison welcomed everyone and Peggy Earnst led us in prayer. Our praise song was “You Never Let Go.” The sermon series “The N Commandments” continued with the sermon “Sin Not.” The message was based on John 8:2-11. Seniors Dane Brammer, Sara Lin, and Grant Simmons were presented with bibles from the church. Small group time followed the message.

Gallatin First Baptist

Bro. Garrett welcomed everyone. Darrell Critten shared a new bus had been purchased and that old bus was to be sold. Shelly Sims reported on the garage sale held Saturday, and on landscaping improvements. She expressed thanks to Jim and Sheila Ruse, Sharon Burke, Mary Lou Swigart, Bro. Garrett, and the youth for doing such a wonderful job.

Stan Ray led intercessory prayer time. Call to worship was led by the Celebration Choir. Bro. Garrett message “We see 6 blessings of God’s deliverance working through others,” Part 2, was from Ruth 2:1:16.

Men’s Bible Study will be at 7 on Wednesday evening. Women’s Wellness Ministry (First Place 4 Health) will meet on Thursday evening at 6:15.

Keenagers will meet on Thursday for their monthly luncheon, Shelly Sims will report on her and Dan’s recent visit to the Philippines. Of special interest also will be Shelly’s mother, Carol, sharing about her experience of being in a Japanese prison camp there during World War II. Anyone is welcome to come and hear this interesting program which will begin at approximately 1 p.m.

The 64th Annual National Day of Prayer “Lord, Hear Our Cry.” I Kings 8:28 is on Thursday, May 7. Please join us along with other churches in our community as we gather together at the courthouse flagpole at noon for a time of prayer for our nation.

United Methodist

The prelude at the 11 a.m. service was played by Jan Johnson as Mady and Kendra lit the candles to start the worship service. Melanie Tipton delivered the children’s message, “Listening and Doing.” Pastor Mike Tipton based his sermon, “Jammin’ With James –Just Do It,” on James 1:19-27.

Pastor Mike led the congregation to the Lord’s Table with Carol Weaver assisting. May 7 is National Day of Prayer. Meet at the courthouse flagpole at noon. May 16 Access II Color Run begins at courthouse. Registration at 8:30 AM. No dine in/carry out in May.

Hot dog ministry starts May 27 from 12-1 and continues each Wednesday through the summer. The community is invited to come eat a free hot dog/chips on the south side of the church. Talk to Pastor Mike if you are interested in going on a mission to Nicaragua.

Prayer concerns continue for Diane Wood, Bonnie Place, Dean Pierce, Dale Alexander, Gene Schweizer, Georgia Maxwell and the Trenton family who suffered such loss in a fire.

Lake Viking

“The Love of God” was Pastor Robert Nelson’s sermon from John 3:1-3. The special music “Had it not been for the Old Rugged Cross” was by Debbie Nalle, Becky Turley, and Jody Baker. The Ladies Bible Study Group will meet Wednesday at 10 a.m. The Youth Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the Adult Bible Study Group will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. Come and join these groups as they study God’s word.

Lake Viking Church is an interdenominational church located just outside the east entrance to Lake Viking. Our Sunday School begins at 9 a.m. and our worship service begins at 10 a.m.

Pattonsburg Christian

Scripture reading was from Roman 8:18-29. Rev. Terry’s sermon “The Whole Armor Of God” was from Ephesians 6:10-20. Remember in prayer: Merlin Bozarth, Betty McFee, Trevor Teel, Jeanne Oliphant, Lonnie Carter, Betty McNeely, Wilma Bratcher, Kelly Vanderslice Kathy Henderson and Doyle Tull.
