Betty Pool of Westminster, Colo., passed away on March 21, 2015, at Atria Applewood Memory Care in Applewood, Colo.

Betty was born Aug. 4, 1925, in Hatfield, Mo. Betty graduated from Gallatin High School Class of 1943. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, with her vocational home economics teaching degree in 1950. She was a member of Tri Sigma sorority, Home Economics Club and Bearcats.
She taught in Oregon, Cameron, DeKalb, and Easton, all of Missouri.
Betty’s career changed after marriage. She managed the family photography business, Strathmann Studios for 17 years in St. Joseph.
Betty retired in 1978 to follow her husband with his career to Gladstone, then to Edina, Minn. They retired to Tucson, Ariz., in 1990. They lived in Arizona for 19 years, then moved to Colorado to be closer to family in Oct. 2006.
Betty Married James (Jim) Pool of Albany on July 27, 1953, the love of her life. They had 66 wonderful years together, beginning as college sweethearts. Together they enjoyed life’s journey to many states and countries. They enjoyed activities, Masonic, Shiners International, social and church organizations. Betty enjoyed decorating their home(s) and her seamstress talents.
Betty and Jim have two children, Rod Pool (Linda) of St. Joseph, two grandchildren, Darby (Alaysha), three great-grandchildren, Sara, Fenix and Ella, Darcy (Jon Page), two great-grandchildren, Randall and Chey, Jamie Griffin of Littleton, Colo., three grandchildren, Jamison, Caitlyn (Andy Franklin), one great-grandchild, Ash James, and Jeremy (Shaun Kramer). Our other Missouri kids, Joy, Darrell, Jeff Shackelford and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Aura Gladys Bell, father, Elmer G. Bell, and brother, Glee E. Bell, great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Chance.
Graveside service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015, St. Joseph Memorial Park.
