Three bids were received by the Winston Board of Trustees during their April 6 meeting to mow and maintain the park. The bids were in the amounts of $40, $37.50 and $50 for each mowing/maintenance. The lowest bid, which was from Cy Uthe, was accepted.
Financial: The board approved the income and expense report; the YTD financial report; a special tax list; and paid bills.
Utilities Clerk Amber Curtis provided a new list of delinquent customers.
Sewer maintenance: Melvin McFee reported that he had to put a capacitor in pump #2. The pumps are working well and lasting a long time.
Street maintenance: Jerry Lusk reported that he has repaired the grader at no cost. Bill Michael and Jerry said there is street work they need to get done this year.
Ordinance Enforcement Officer Christy Eden-Browder reported on dog pickups and redemptions, animal control certification renewal, and a summons to court. A trustee indicated that the person to receive the summons has been reported to be in prison.
Historical Society and Community Activities: Jesse James Days July 10-12; two tractor pulls; PTO ice cream social May 7; and Boy Scouts Hog Roast June 27.
Town Hall & Park Maintenance: town hall phone quit working and has been replaced.
Village Clerk Lucille Lusk circulated a copy of the annual budget report filed with the State Auditor.
Bulk trash pickup is May 16.
Next regular board meeting is at 7 p.m. on May 4.
Trustees present: Chairman Arvella Eaton, Bill Michael and Jerry Lusk. Cindy Ball was absent due to illness, and Autumn Caldwell was absent. Others present: Lucille Lusk, Melvin McFee, Amber Curtis and Christy Eden-Browder.
There were no filings for the two open board offices. However, two people accepted appointments at an organization meeting held April 20. They were Autumn Caldwell and Sarah Ragan.
Oaths of office, election of chair pro tem, appointment of a clerk, and board photos were also handled at the meeting April 20. Arvella Eaton is still chair until her term is up next year. Autumn Caldwell was elected as Chair Pro Tem for a term of one year. Lucille Lusk is still city clerk.
