Mowing bids were submitted from Eads Lawn Care for $135, Mike Walker for $250 and James Cook for $180 during the April 16 meeting of the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education. The bid from James Cook was accepted to mow the school grounds.

Financial statement was presented and bills approved.

Peggy Heldenbrand requested that she move from head cook position to assistant cook with reduced hours, and the board agreed to change her position

Water easement papers were signed.

Amy McMahon and Paul Caven were sworn into office. The same officers were approved: Jason Lewis as president, Paul Caven as vice president, Natalie May as secretary and James Duly as treasurer.

Executive session was held pursuant to employee matters.

A teaching contract for physical education was offered to Dakota Dunlap. Craig Heckenbach was hired as custodian/bus driver. Amy Weese was hired as head cook. A paraprofessional contract was offered to Staci Gatton. Daniel Weese was hired for summer custodian.

Non-certified staff employment retained were: Charlotte Claussen, Callie Heckenbach,  Peggy Heldenbrand , Janese Courter and Deanna Swalley. Judy Alden was retained for speech services.

Resignations were accepted from Henry Rhoades and Britney Baker.

The insurance plan was accepted as presented, with the board paying $460.41 towards the employee premiums.

During administrative reports, Mr. Street announced Family Fun Night was March 31 and there was not a very good turnout. Graduation will be May 15 at 7 p.m. The senior trip will leave on May 18-21. The homework policy has helped tremendously; feedback from students was mostly positive.

Diplomas will be signed if the students meet the graduation requirements.

Next board meeting is at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 18.
