The Bulldogs combined for a nine-hole score of 152 to best Albany (182), Mid-Buchanan (192) and Mercer, which only fielded three golfers.
Jett Simmons edged out his brother, Grant, for the medalist honor. Jett shot a round of 37 and Grant came in with a 38. Gabe Cole also shot a round of 38 for the Bulldogs. Bradley Rhoades and Logan Burns both shot better than any other school’s competitor. Rhoades carded a 39 and Burns finished with a round of 40.
Wyatt Bird led jayvee golfers with a 42, followed by Kase Critten 45, Samuel Coulson 47, Klark Critten 47, Colin Beck 49 and Jarod Rains 61.
The Bulldogs were just four shots back of Lawson and needed Logan Burns’ fifth-man score to edge Maryville for runnerup in last Wednesday’s Cameron Tournament.
The Bulldogs combined for a total of 328 to finish right behind Lawson’s 324. Maryville also shot 324 but Burns’ individual score of 89 tipped the runnerup spot to Gallatin in the 15-team tournament.
Jett Simmons topped Gallatin golfers with a round of 74 and fourth place finish individually. Gabe Cole shot 83, Grant Simmons shot 84 and Bradley Rhoades carded an 87.
The Bulldogs also finished second in Friday’s Plattsburg Tournament behind St. Joseph LeBlond.
Rhoades and Burns combined for a 76 to place fourth. Grant Simmons and Gabe Cole took fifth with a 77, winning a score card playoff over teammates Jett Simmons and Kase Critten.
Gallatin will defend its Grand River Conference golf title next Monday at Maysville. The conference junior varsity tournament will be held Tuesday at Bethany.
