County Commission

April 8, 2015

This week, James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, and his crew will be driving piling on 242nd Street after clean-up and fixing a bridge on 292nd Street in Jamesport Township.

Bills were reviewed and approved.

Trudi Burton discussed a marketing ad for Daviess County. David Cox moved to approve an ad for an amount of $200 in the Daviess/DeKalb County Visitors and Newcomers Guide 2015. Carl Carder seconded. Motion carried.

Daviess County and the City of Gallatin will be having a collection event on May 2 between 9 a.m. and noon at the city dump.

Mowing bids were opened from Mike Walker and Legendary Lawn Care. David Cox moved to accept Legendary Lawn Care for mowing season 2015. Carl Carder seconded, and motion carried.

Chuck Weldon discussed the FEMA disaster funding for Washington Township.

The 2015 Memorandum of Agreement from Green Hills Regional Planning Commission was signed by the commission.

There was discussion with elected officials regarding economic development, foundation creation, county building issues including mowing, parking lot, elevator, copier/fax maintenance agreements and phone issues.

In the afternoon the commission inspected roads and bridges in Salem and Benton Township.

Bids for sheriff vehicles were reviewed.

April 10, 2015

Randy Sims, presiding commissioner, called the meeting to order at 9 a.m. A contract with Patricia L. Hughes for attorney services in regards to the assessor’s office was signed by the commission.

There was discussion on sheriff vehicle bids.

Assessor’s Office

Representatives from the assessor’s office are in the field, reviewing properties in Jackson and Jamesport Townships.

Second notices were mailed and should be returned to the office before May 1 to avoid penalty.

Circuit Court

The following cases were heard by Judge Thomas Chapman on April 8:

Probation was revoked for Joshua J. Sutton on a class C felony charge of domestic assault, and his seven-year sentence was ordered executed.

A jury trial for Matthew K. Huff was rescheduled to July 27-28, for three counts of child molestation first degree, two class B felonies and one class A felony; two counts of incest, class D felony; and two counts of statutory sodomy, unclassified felonies.

A jury trial for Jared Zerbe was rescheduled to April 30-May 1, for domestic assault first degree, class B felony; assault first degree, class B felony; and property damage first degree, class D felony.

A dissolution of marriage was granted to Sandra L. Alden from Douglas E. Alden.

A quiet title was granted to Terry Williams, Independence, and Robert A. Posey, trustee, Independence, from Nellie Mae McNew and Louetta M. McClaron.

Steve Lowry, guardian, vs. Donald D. Corbin et al was dismissed by the parties.
